Benefits Changes & Eligibility
Life changes, and sometimes, your benefits need to change too. This page explains who is eligible for coverage, what changes you can make throughout the year, and the steps to update your benefits when a Qualified Life Event occurs.
Making Benefits Changes
Getting married or divorced? Adding a baby or child to the family? Did you lose or gain coverage elsewhere? When your life changes because of a “Qualified Life Event,” you can change your benefits to match.
When your life changes, you can change your benefits within 30 days.
See below for a list of eligible life changes (Qualified Life Events). Note that you can only submit a coverage change once your previous coverage has ended.
Log in to the Benefits Portal.
Follow the prompts to review and update your benefits choices.
Click Submit.
After your enrollment is processed, the system will show your confirmation.
Provide your documents.
Provide proof of your relationship with your dependents by uploading them to the Benefits Portal. Acceptable documents include a birth certificate, marriage certificate, or domestic partner affidavit.
Your updated choices go into effect retroactive to the event date.
Once you make the changes, please allow up to 10 days for updates to show up in the plan providers’ systems.
Remember Your Deadline!
You have 30 days to make changes to your benefits. If you miss the deadline, you will have to wait for the next open enrollment to change your coverage.
