Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance
If something unexpected happens, Basic Life and AD&D insurance through Prudential can help ease the financial burden for your loved ones. You can elect coverage for yourself, your spouse/domestic partner, and children.
How It Works
Life Insurance pays a benefit to your beneficiaries if you die. They can use the benefit for current and future expenses, like salary replacement, mortgage or rent, child care, debt repayment, and college tuition.
AD&D Insurance pays a benefit if you die or are seriously injured due to an accident, including the loss of a limb, a hand, a foot, sight in one eye, speech, or hearing — injuries that could make it difficult or impossible for you to continue working.
You’re automatically covered on your hire date.
Sunland Asphalt provides Basic Life and AD&D Insurance equal to one times your annual salary (up to $200,000) at NO COST. No enrollment required.
Elect Voluntary Life and AD&D Insurance if you want extra coverage.
You can purchase for yourself, your spouse/domestic partner, and your children. The best time to enroll is during your first 30 days — you’ll have access to more coverage without having to answer health questions. You can also enroll during open enrollment or if you have a Qualified Life Event. Log in to the Benefits Portal to see your options and elect coverage.
Name your beneficiaries.
A beneficiary is the person (or people) who will receive the benefit if you die. Update your beneficiaries in the Benefits Portal at any time. Be sure to review them after major life events like a marriage, divorce, or birth of a child.
Higher amounts may require a short health review.
If you elect more than $300,000 for yourself, or more than $30,000 for your spouse, you’ll need to complete an Evidence of Insurability (EOI) form and answer health questions. If you decline coverage as a new hire or during Open Enrollment, you will be subject to EOI for any coverage amount for both employees and spouses. Children are not subject to EOI.
