Paid Time Off (PTO)

Sunland Asphalt appreciates how hard employees work and recognizes the importance of providing time for rest and relaxation. Sunland fully encourages you to get this rest by taking Paid Time Off. Time off under this policy includes extended time off, such as for a vacation, and incidental time due to sickness or to handle personal affairs.

How It Works

Paid Time Off

Employees accrue Paid Time Off as follows. The accrual applies to both full-time and part-time employees.

Years of EmploymentAnnual AccrualWeekly Accrual RateHourly Accrual Rate
Less than 5 years10 days (80 hours)1.54 hours per week0.0385 hours per hour worked
5 years but less than 10 years15 days (120 hours)2.31 hours per week0.0578 hours per hour worked
10 or more years20 days (160 hours)3.08 hours per week0.0770 hours per hour worked
PTO Carryover

PTO accrual period runs from April 1 through March 31. Employees have until the end of the last full pay period in March to utilize carryover PTO. Any unused hours greater than 80 hours after the last full pay period in March will be forfeited during the first pay period of April.

Note: This excludes Colorado employees.

Company Holidays

We observe the following holidays:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Day after Thanksgiving
  • Christmas Day

Eligible employees who are scheduled and completing regular work on a holiday will receive their normal pay rate for hours worked.

When a holiday falls on a weekend, the paid holiday will be observed as follows:

  • Holidays on a Saturday will be observed on Friday before the holiday.
  • Holidays on a Sunday will be observed on the following Monday.
