New Hires

Welcome to Sunland Asphalt! We’re happy you’re here, and we’re excited to introduce you to all your new benefits. Here’s how to get off to a great start with your flexible and comprehensive Sunland Asphalt benefits.

Your Next Steps

1. Check eligibility for you and your dependents

Employees: Full-time employees who work at least 30 hours per week are eligible for benefits on the first of the month following 30 days of full-time employment.

Spouse, domestic partner, and dependents: Employees may cover their legal spouse or domestic partner and children as their dependents under certain Sunland benefits plans. Children are eligible to be covered through the end of the month in which they turn age 26.

Please note: If your spouse’s eligibility for medical benefits changes in the future, this would create a Qualified Life Event.

2. Enroll before the deadline

Your benefits go into effect on the first of the month following 30 days from the date of hire. You must enroll prior to your effective date.

Make your elections in the Benefits Portal or by calling benefits counselors at 855-898-6545 (Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM–6:00 PM Mountain Time). Remember to download your enrollment summary and save it for your records.

If you miss enrollment:

  • You’ll have to wait until the next open enrollment to enroll, unless you have a Qualified Life Event like getting married or having a baby.
  • You’ll only receive Company-paid benefits, such as Basic Life insurance and the Employee Assistance Program.
3. If you cover dependents, submit proof of their relationship to you

If you add your spouse and/or children to your benefits, you must provide proof of their eligibility, such as a birth certificate or marriage license. You will also need their Social Security Numbers and dates of birth.

Upload the necessary supporting documents to the Benefits Portal.

4. Set up your 401(k)

The Sunland Asphalt 401(k) savings plan lets you save pre-tax dollars for retirement. You can start saving in the 401(k) plan on the first day of the month following 30 days of employment.

Sunland matches $0.50 for every dollar you contribute up to 6% of your annual salary. This means the employer match is a maximum of 3% of your contributions.

5. Name your beneficiaries
