Disability Insurance
Disability coverage through Prudential replaces part of your income if you can’t work because you are sick, have a baby, need surgery, or get hurt while away from work. Sunland Asphalt provides short term disability (STD) and long term disability (LTD). If you purchase voluntary STD coverage, Sunland Asphalt will provide LTD coverage for you at no cost.
How It Works
You have the option to purchase short term disability.
If you do, Sunland Asphalt will provide long term disability coverage for you at no additional cost. If you decline coverage as a new hire or during Open Enrollment, you will need to complete EOI to be covered by the plan.
If you are unable to work and need to file an STD claim, contact Prudential.
They will explain the steps to get your claim approved.
Your STD benefits begin after a 7-day waiting period.
You receive 60% of your pre-disability income to a maximum of $1,154 per week for up to 12 weeks.
LTD begins if you can’t return to work after 90 days.
You receive 60% of your pre-disability income to a maximum of $5,000 per month. Benefits are based on your age and date of disability.
